Dr Jack is a board-certified pediatric dentist and the founder of Sequoia Pediatric Dentistry. At Sequoia, we use tailored behavior guidance techniques to promote a positive dental attitude. Dr Jack Yeung grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of California, San Diego. He then went on to obtain his doctor of dental surgery (DDS) degree from UCLA.
During dental school, Dr Jack realized his passion for working with children. He completed a postdoctoral residency program in Pediatric Dentistry at UCLA-CHAT (Community Health Advocate in Training). During residency, he gained experience in working with children with special healthcare needs, craniofacial anomalies, interceptive orthodontics, and treatment with IV and oral sedation. His research was on how taste perception affects the risk for getting cavities. Feel free to ask him about it!
Outside of dentistry, Dr Jack is an avid Bay Area sports fan. Dr Jack enjoys spending time with his wife, traveling, backpacking, and hiking. After living many years in Southern California, he feels fortunate to be back home.
Why a Pediatric Dentist?
Pediatric dentistry is one of the nine recognized dental specialties of the American Dental Association. Pediatric dentists complete two to three years of additional specialized training (after the required four years of dental school) to prepare them for treating a wide variety of children's dental problems. They are also trained and qualified to care for patients with medical, physical or mental disabilities. Unlike a general dentist, pediatric dentist have extensive experience in sedation dentistry (treating your child when he/she is minimally sedated or completely sleeping).
